Can A Drug Actually Make Me Smarter?

by on Mar.07, 2009, under General

Well, sort of.

Piracetam, when taken correctly has been shown to improve brain function in many different ways. It’s no miracle drug–it won’t raise your IQ, but think of it as an edge on everyone else at school. The drug mimics a chemical in your brain that acts on the ion channels and carriers and gets them excited. Increasing bloodflow and the consumption of oxygen to the brain, some users experience a “high” like effect followed by increased vividity in color and detail recognition.

It has clinically treated a wide variety of diseases of the brain and heart, mostly having to do with speech and language recognition. Patients that lost their motor and speech skills seem to perform better when they are administered Piracetam along with regular therapy.

You don’t have Alzheimer’s or dementia and you’ve never had a stroke, so what can Piracetam do for you? Well for one, it’s quite cheap when you buy it in bulk so you really haven’t got anything to lose on that one. It’s also very popular among college students that report a significant effect on their concentration within four or five weeks of daily usage. You can’t overdose on it, and if you take too much, your body just gets rid of it through urination. Nothing to lose right? Well you might become too smart and everyone will hate you, but that’s not that bad. Oh and also, it intensifies the experiences of THC, and LSD–sweet.

Here are some common experiences:

“I did feel more mentally alert, had better image recall (ie. pseudo-photographic memory) and had the most vivid dreams of my life. I have never before remembered dreams much at all. While I was taking piracetam I was overwhelmed each morning by perfect recollection of the most bizarre, vivid dreams I have ever had. Furthermore, I felt distinctly refreshed in the morning. Clear headed. Normally I require a shower and coffee to get to that mental clearheadedness. With piracetam, I was clearheaded as soon as I had woken up. I felt more motivated and used a larger vocabulary, both in everyday speech and in my head.” Source

“I had woken up to go to school, but I was up late the previous night, so I was extremely tired. Not just the physical “I need to sleep” but the mental “i dont want to think” kind of tiredness that you often get first thing in the morning. So I popped 800 mg of pircetam and 1200 mg of Lecithin as a neurotransmitter replacement. So, I managed to get onto the bus. Now, have you ever been SO tired you just sit on the bus, close your eyes and start to drift off? Well that was what I was doing. Except… instead of having that mental tiredness that lets you fall asleep, I just couldn’t fall asleep, it was like my brain was all ready to go and my body had enough. Which certainly was true ;-) So I rode the bus all the way to UBC  like this, in a eyes closed but wide awake state. Quite interesting, and while not as fun as, say, pot, very interesting.”

“One day, I thought to myself, I know what I’ll do the next day as an experiment, I’ll set my alarm at some ungodly hour like 10am, and take some piracetam, and lie back and wait for it to kick in (takes ~ 30 minutes or so) and then get up. Well I did that, but instead of waking up, I fell asleep for the next 2 hours. However, I drempt very rapid and vivid dreams for the next 2 hours STRAIGHT. When I woke up I was amazed at the dreams. They faded quickly, and I can’t remember anything, but I do recall being very surprised at how it seemed like I drempt continuously for the whole 2 hours. ”

Please enjoy Piracetam responsibly, I don’t want to see anymore goddamn psychadelic paintings in my university’s art gallery.
